Ingredients
- 1 cup (8 fl oz / 225 ml) heavy whipping cream
- 1 cup (8 oz / 225 g) mascarpone cheese, at room temperature
- 1/3 cup (2 1/2 oz / 71 g) sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups (16 oz / 450 ml) espresso or strong coffee, cooled
- 1 pack ladyfingers (Boudoir biscuits/Savoiardi)
- Cocoa powder, for dusting
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, beat whipping cream, sugar, and vanilla until soft peaks form.
- Add mascarpone and continue whipping until stiff peaks form.
- Briefly dip each ladyfinger into cooled espresso—do not soak.
- Arrange 7–9 dipped ladyfingers in a single layer in an 8×8-inch dish.
- Spread half of the mascarpone cream mixture evenly over the layer.
- Repeat with a second layer of dipped ladyfingers and remaining cream.
- Dust the top with cocoa powder.
- Refrigerate for 2–4 hours before serving.
Notes
- Use instant coffee if espresso isn’t available—just make it strong.
- Quickly dip ladyfingers to avoid sogginess.
- Can be made a day ahead—flavor improves overnight.
- Substitute cream cheese blend if mascarpone is unavailable.
- Top with chocolate shavings or chips for added richness.
