Ingredients
- 2 lbs sirloin steak, cut into 1½-inch cubes
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1/4 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
Instructions
- Place the cubed sirloin steak into the crockpot in an even layer.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together soy sauce, beef broth, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, garlic, onion powder, paprika, thyme, pepper, and salt.
- Pour the sauce mixture over the steak bites and stir gently to coat.
- Cover and cook on low for 5–6 hours or high for 3–4 hours until the steak is tender.
- Mix the cornstarch with water in a small bowl until smooth.
- Stir the cornstarch slurry into the crockpot during the last 30 minutes of cooking to thicken the sauce.
- Once the sauce is thickened, stir gently and serve hot with your choice of sides.
Notes
- Add mushrooms during the last 2 hours for extra flavor.
- For a spicy version, add 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes.
- Use freshly chopped parsley for garnish before serving.
- Chuck steak or stew meat can be used in place of sirloin, though texture may vary.
