Description

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs sirloin steak, cut into -inch cubes
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. Place the cubed sirloin steak into the crockpot in an even layer.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together soy sauce, beef broth, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, garlic, onion powder, paprika, thyme, pepper, and salt.
  3. Pour the sauce mixture over the steak bites and stir gently to coat.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 5–6 hours or high for 3–4 hours until the steak is tender.
  5. Mix the cornstarch with water in a small bowl until smooth.
  6. Stir the cornstarch slurry into the crockpot during the last 30 minutes of cooking to thicken the sauce.
  7. Once the sauce is thickened, stir gently and serve hot with your choice of sides.

Notes

  • Add mushrooms during the last 2 hours for extra flavor.
  • For a spicy version, add 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes.
  • Use freshly chopped parsley for garnish before serving.
  • Chuck steak or stew meat can be used in place of sirloin, though texture may vary.
