Description
A rich and smooth slow-cooked apple butter made with warm spices, delivering a deep caramelized flavor perfect for spreading or baking.
Ingredients
- 6 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Place sliced apples in the crockpot.
- Add granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. Mix well.
- Cover and cook on low for 8–10 hours until apples are soft.
- Blend the mixture using an immersion blender until smooth.
- Leave lid slightly open and cook for another 1–2 hours to thicken.
- Stir in vanilla extract.
- Allow to cool before transferring to jars.
Notes
- Use a mix of sweet and tart apples for best flavor.
- Cook longer for thicker consistency.
- Reduce sugar for a less sweet version.
- Store in fridge up to 2 weeks or freeze for longer.
