Description

Crispy Honey Garlic Shrimp Skewers are a delicious mix of sweet, savory, and crunchy flavors, paired perfectly with a creamy, tangy lime dip. Ideal as an appetizer or light main, this quick and crowd-pleasing dish is ready in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 500g large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ½ cup flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko or regular breadcrumbs
  • Oil for frying
  • Skewers (wooden or metal)
  • 3 tbsp mayo
  • 2 tbsp Greek yogurt or sour cream
  • 1 tbsp fresh lime juice
  • ½ tsp lime zest
  • 1 tsp honey (for dip)
  • A pinch of chili flakes or hot sauce (optional)
  • Salt to taste (for dip)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix shrimp with garlic, honey, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Marinate for 15–20 minutes.
  2. Set up three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs.
  3. Dredge each shrimp in flour, then dip in egg, and finally coat in breadcrumbs.
  4. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the shrimp for 1–2 minutes per side until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  5. Thread fried shrimp onto skewers. Drizzle or brush with a glaze made from warm honey and a touch of soy sauce.
  6. In a small bowl, combine mayo, yogurt, lime juice, lime zest, honey, chili flakes, and salt. Mix until smooth to make the dip.
  7. Arrange shrimp skewers on a serving platter. Serve with the tangy lime dip on the side.

Notes

  • Use gluten-free flour and breadcrumbs for a gluten-free version.
  • Grill instead of fry for a healthier option.
  • Add shredded coconut to breadcrumbs for a tropical twist.
  • Use lemon in place of lime for a citrus variation.
  • Air fry at 200°C (400°F) for 8–10 minutes as an alternative method.
