Description

Crispy baked chicken wings coated in a sticky honey garlic sauce with a balance of sweet and savory flavors, perfect for game day or family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken wings, split into flats and drumettes
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 5 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Optional garnish: 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley or green onion

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment or foil and place a wire rack on top.
  2. Pat chicken wings dry. Toss with baking powder, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, paprika, cornstarch, and vegetable oil until coated.
  3. Arrange wings in single layer on rack; bake 20 minutes, flip, and bake another 20–25 minutes until golden and crisp.
  4. While baking, make sauce: melt butter in saucepan over medium heat, add minced garlic for 30 seconds.
  5. Stir in honey, soy sauce, tomato paste, brown sugar, and rice vinegar; simmer 2–3 minutes.
  6. Mix cornstarch and water to make slurry; stir into sauce until thickened and glossy.
  7. Transfer baked wings to a clean bowl, pour sauce over, and toss to coat.
  8. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped parsley or green onion. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Dry the wings well for maximum crispiness.
  • Adjust spice with chili flakes, smoked paprika, or sesame oil if desired.
  • Can be made in air fryer at 400°F, cooking in batches 18–22 minutes, turning halfway.
  • Store leftovers in airtight container in fridge up to 3 days; reheat in oven or air fryer for best texture.
  • Sauce can be made ahead and reheated before tossing with wings.
