Ingredients
- 1 pound (450 g) Brussels sprouts
- 1 tablespoon oil (olive oil or avocado oil)
- 1/4 teaspoon heaped salt
- 1/4 teaspoon heaped black pepper
- 1 small head of garlic
- Optional Maple Balsamic Glaze:
- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 1 1/2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon tamari or soy sauce
Instructions
- Rinse Brussels sprouts, trim stems, and halve lengthwise. Place in a bowl.
- Add oil, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat evenly.
- Lightly spray air fryer basket with cooking spray. Arrange sprouts in a single layer.
- Slice top off garlic head, brush with oil, wrap in foil, and place in air fryer.
- Air fry at 370°F (188°C) for 15 minutes, shaking the basket after 8–10 minutes.
- While cooking, simmer glaze ingredients for 3–5 minutes until slightly thickened. Set aside.
- Remove sprouts after 15 minutes. Continue cooking garlic for 5 more minutes.
- Let garlic cool, then mash with a fork.
- Drizzle cooked sprouts with glaze and top with mashed garlic before serving.
Notes
- Do not overcrowd the air fryer for maximum crispiness.
- Wrapping garlic in foil ensures it stays soft and mashable.
- The glaze can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to a week.
- Try different seasonings like Cajun spice, smoked paprika, or lemon zest.
- Avoid microwaving leftovers for best texture.
