Description
Creamy Tomato Tortellini is a quick and comforting one-pan pasta dish with tender cheese tortellini simmered in a rich tomato-cream sauce. It’s a cozy, restaurant-quality meal ready in under 30 minutes.
Ingredients
- 2 (9-ounce) packages refrigerated cheese tortellini
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 (14-ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Freshly grated Parmesan cheese, for serving
Instructions
- In a large deep skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Stir in the tomato paste, tomato sauce, heavy cream, and Italian seasoning. Mix until smooth and combined.
- Add the refrigerated tortellini to the skillet and stir to coat with the sauce.
- Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and cook for about 5 minutes.
- Check for doneness. If needed, cook another 2–3 minutes, adding a splash of cream or broth if sauce is too thick.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve immediately with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
Notes
- Add a pinch of sugar to reduce the tomato acidity if needed.
- Don’t overcook the tortellini to prevent them from becoming mushy.
- Fresh herbs like basil or parsley add extra flavor and freshness.
- For best results, use full-fat cream to prevent sauce separation.
- Reheat leftovers gently to avoid breaking the sauce.
