Description

Crabby shrimp-stuffed garlic bread bombs are a savory, crowd-pleasing appetizer featuring crusty Italian bread filled with creamy cheese, tender shrimp, garlic, and herbs. Crispy on the outside and rich inside, they’re perfect for parties or special gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf crusty Italian bread (about 16 ounces)
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 pound raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Chop the shrimp into small, bite-size pieces and pat them dry with paper towels.
  3. In a large bowl, combine chopped shrimp, cream cheese, mozzarella, parsley, garlic, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Mix until evenly blended.
  4. Slice the Italian bread in half lengthwise and hollow out the center of each half, leaving about ½-inch shell.
  5. Spoon the shrimp mixture into each hollowed bread half, pressing gently to fill evenly.
  6. Brush the outer crust of the bread with melted butter.
  7. Wrap each filled bread half in aluminum foil and place on a baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes.
  8. Unwrap the foil and bake uncovered for another 5 minutes, until the top is golden and the filling is bubbling.
  9. Remove from the oven, let rest for a few minutes, then slice and serve warm.

Notes

  • Add cooked crab meat for a more luxurious filling.
  • Lemon zest or smoked paprika adds extra flavor depth.
  • Use small rolls for individual portions and adjust baking time accordingly.
  • Assemble ahead of time and refrigerate until ready to bake.
  • Avoid microwaving leftovers to maintain crispness.
