Ingredients
- 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
- 1/2 cup (150 g) sweetened condensed milk
- 2 cups (250 g) cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract or almond extract (optional)
- 1/4 cup (30 g) powdered sugar, for dusting after baking (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, beat the softened butter until smooth and creamy.
- Add sweetened condensed milk and mix until fully incorporated and fluffy. Stir in extract if using.
- Gradually add cornstarch and mix gently until a soft dough forms.
- Roll dough into small balls (about 1 tablespoon each) and place on baking sheet with space between.
- Lightly flatten each cookie with fingers or a fork, if desired.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes until the bottoms are set but tops remain pale.
- Remove from oven and cool completely before handling.
- Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
- Use only cornstarch, not flour, for the melt-away texture.
- Do not overbake—the cookies should not brown on top.
- Flavor variations include lemon zest, cocoa powder, shredded coconut, or espresso powder.
- Store at room temperature for 5 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
