Description

These cinnamon sugar churros are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and coated in a sweet cinnamon-sugar blend. Perfect for recreating a favorite fair or street food at home, they make a fun and delicious treat for sharing.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 1/2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 quarts vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine water, 2 1/2 tbsp sugar, salt, and 2 tbsp oil. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat.
  2. Stir in flour all at once until a smooth dough forms and pulls away from the pan.
  3. Heat frying oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe strips into hot oil, cutting to desired length.
  5. Fry until golden brown, turning as needed. Drain on paper towels.
  6. Mix 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon in a shallow bowl. Roll warm churros in mixture to coat.

Notes

  • Use a candy or deep-fry thermometer to maintain oil temperature.
  • Add a splash of vanilla extract to the dough for extra flavor.
  • Best served fresh. Pair with chocolate sauce for dipping.
