Description

These Chocolate Covered Caramel Apple Slices are a festive, bite-sized twist on classic caramel apples—dipped in chocolate, drizzled with caramel, and topped with candy or nuts. Perfect for parties, holidays, or a fall afternoon treat.

Ingredients

  • 3 large apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 12 oz chocolate melting wafers (milk, dark, or white)
  • 20 soft caramel squares (such as Kraft Classic Caramels)
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • ½ cup assorted toppings (mini M&M’s, chopped nuts, sprinkles, or crushed candy bars)
  • Popsicle sticks for dipping

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry apples thoroughly. Slice each apple into ½-inch thick slices and remove the stems and seeds.
  2. Insert a popsicle stick into the bottom of each slice. Pat slices completely dry with paper towels.
  3. Melt chocolate wafers in a double boiler or microwave in 15–20 second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  4. Dip each apple slice into the melted chocolate to coat. Let excess drip off.
  5. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and refrigerate for 5–10 minutes to set.
  6. Melt caramel squares with heavy cream in the microwave in 20–30 second bursts, stirring until smooth.
  7. Drizzle caramel over the chocolate-coated slices. Optionally, drizzle extra chocolate on top.
  8. Immediately sprinkle with toppings of choice while caramel is still soft.
  9. Refrigerate for 10–15 more minutes until fully set. Serve chilled or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Dry apple slices thoroughly to help chocolate stick.
  • Use lemon water dip to prevent browning if preparing in advance.
  • Swap in white chocolate or candy melts for visual variety.
  • Decorate with holiday-themed toppings for festive occasions.
  • Use vegan chocolate and coconut cream for a dairy-free version.
