Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, beat the butter and cream cheese until smooth and creamy.
- Add sugar and beat until light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes.
- Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes or until edges are set and lightly golden. Centers should remain soft.
- Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Use full-fat cream cheese for best texture.
- No need to chill the dough, but optional chilling yields slightly thicker cookies.
- Swap chocolate chips for dark, white, or milk chocolate, or mix in nuts or dried fruit.
