Description
Soft, fluffy bread buns stuffed with gooey melted cheese — a perfect comfort food for breakfast, snacks, or as a side dish.
Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1 1/2 cups warm water (about 110°F or 43°C)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or a cheese blend of your choice)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and melted butter. Mix until a sticky dough forms.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal portions. Flatten each into a disc, add 1 tablespoon of shredded cheese in the center, and fold edges over to seal into a ball.
- Place the buns seam-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Cover and let rise again for 30 minutes until puffy.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Beat the egg and brush it over the tops of the buns.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown and slightly crisp on top.
- Cool for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm with gooey cheese inside!
