Description
Caprese Skewers with Balsamic Drizzle are a fresh, no-cook appetizer featuring cherry tomatoes, mozzarella balls, and basil leaves skewered together and topped with a tangy-sweet balsamic reduction. They’re elegant, simple, and perfect for entertaining.
Ingredients
- 1 cup balsamic vinegar
- 2 cups cherry tomatoes, washed and dried
- 8 ounces ciliegine mozzarella balls, drained
- 20 fresh basil leaves, washed and dried
- Salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 20 toothpicks or small skewers
Instructions
- Make the Balsamic Drizzle: In a small saucepan, bring the balsamic vinegar to a boil over high heat. Reduce to medium-low and simmer for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until reduced by half and syrupy. Cool completely.
- Assemble Skewers: On each skewer, thread one cherry tomato, a folded basil leaf, and one mozzarella ball. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
- Season and Drizzle: Arrange skewers on a serving platter. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Drizzle with cooled balsamic reduction just before serving.
Notes
- Make the skewers up to 12 hours ahead and refrigerate (without seasoning or drizzle).
- Balsamic reduction can be made up to 5 days in advance and stored in the fridge.
- Use store-bought balsamic glaze for convenience.
- Swap basil with mint or arugula for a variation.
- Add olives, cucumbers, or different cheeses for a twist.
