Description
Butter-Basted Lobster Tail with Seared Scallops is a luxurious seafood dish that combines oven-baked lobster tails in a rich garlic-lemon butter sauce with pan-seared scallops finished with a golden crust. Perfect for special occasions or a gourmet dinner at home.
Ingredients
- 2 lobster tails (6–8 oz each)
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- ½ tsp paprika (optional)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- 6 large sea scallops
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp butter (for scallops)
- Lemon wedges, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Cut through the top shell of each lobster tail lengthwise and lift the meat on top of the shell.
- In a small bowl, mix melted butter, minced garlic, lemon juice, paprika, salt, and pepper. Brush over lobster meat.
- Place lobster tails on a baking sheet and bake for 10–12 minutes, until meat is opaque and lightly golden.
- While lobster bakes, pat scallops dry and season with salt and pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add scallops and sear 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
- In the last minute of cooking, add 2 tbsp butter and remaining minced garlic to the skillet. Baste scallops with the melted butter.
- Plate lobster tails and scallops. Drizzle with remaining garlic butter and garnish with chopped parsley.
- Serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side.

- Add cayenne or red pepper flakes to the garlic butter for heat.
- Use compound butter with herbs or truffle for added depth.
- Pair with roasted vegetables or mashed potatoes for a complete meal.
- Ensure scallops are very dry for best sear.
