Description

Butter-Basted Lobster Tail with Seared Scallops is a luxurious seafood dish that combines oven-baked lobster tails in a rich garlic-lemon butter sauce with pan-seared scallops finished with a golden crust. Perfect for special occasions or a gourmet dinner at home.

Ingredients

  • 2 lobster tails (68 oz each)
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • ½ tsp paprika (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • 6 large sea scallops
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter (for scallops)
  • Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Cut through the top shell of each lobster tail lengthwise and lift the meat on top of the shell.
  2. In a small bowl, mix melted butter, minced garlic, lemon juice, paprika, salt, and pepper. Brush over lobster meat.
  3. Place lobster tails on a baking sheet and bake for 10–12 minutes, until meat is opaque and lightly golden.
  4. While lobster bakes, pat scallops dry and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add scallops and sear 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  6. In the last minute of cooking, add 2 tbsp butter and remaining minced garlic to the skillet. Baste scallops with the melted butter.
  7. Plate lobster tails and scallops. Drizzle with remaining garlic butter and garnish with chopped parsley.
  8. Serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side.

Notes

  • Add cayenne or red pepper flakes to the garlic butter for heat.
  • Use compound butter with herbs or truffle for added depth.
  • Pair with roasted vegetables or mashed potatoes for a complete meal.
  • Ensure scallops are very dry for best sear.
  • Use orange or lime juice instead of lemon for a citrus twist.
