Description

This Brownie Batter Frozen Yogurt is a rich, chocolatey, and refreshingly creamy dessert made with simple, wholesome ingredients. It delivers the indulgent taste of brownie batter with a light frozen yogurt texture, perfect for warm days or anytime you need a healthier chocolate fix.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups plain or vanilla yogurt (dairy or nondairy such as Silk)
  • 1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon dutch-process or natural cocoa powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon baking soda
  • A little over 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons unrefined sugar or xylitol (adjust to taste)
  • 1/16 teaspoon pure stevia or 2 tablespoons additional sugar
  • 1 handful chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the yogurt, cocoa powder, baking soda, salt, vanilla extract, sugar (or xylitol), and stevia (or additional sugar) until fully smooth and combined.
  2. Taste the mixture and adjust sweetness if needed, remembering that frozen yogurt tastes less sweet once frozen.
  3. If using chocolate chips, fold them into the mixture.
  4. Pour the prepared batter into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions, usually 20 to 25 minutes, until thick and creamy.
  5. Serve immediately for a soft-serve texture, or transfer to a freezer-safe container and freeze for 1 to 2 hours for a firmer consistency.

Notes

  • Adjust sweetener based on your yogurt’s sweetness and personal taste.
  • For stronger chocolate flavor, increase cocoa or add melted chocolate.
  • Allow frozen yogurt to sit at room temperature before scooping if frozen solid.
  • Baking soda helps smooth out cocoa’s acidity for a better flavor.
  • Use high-protein yogurt or protein powder for a protein boost.
