Ingredients
- 2 ¼ cups (280 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons matcha powder (culinary grade)
- ¾ cup (170 g) unsalted butter
- ¾ cup (150 g) white granulated sugar
- ¾ cup (165 g) brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 ¼ cups (210 g) white chocolate chips
Instructions
- Brown the butter: Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring until golden with brown bits. Transfer to a heatproof bowl to cool until warm.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and sifted matcha powder.
- In a large bowl, whisk browned butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla; whisk until light and creamy, about 1 minute.
- Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix with a spatula until a green dough forms. Fold in white chocolate chips.
- Cover and refrigerate dough for 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Scoop 3-tablespoon portions of dough and place 2–3 inches apart on baking sheets.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, until edges are lightly golden and centers are just set.
- Cool on baking sheets for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
