Description

This Baklava Ice Cream Sundae captures the essence of classic baklava in a quick, 10-minute dessert. Crispy phyllo, spiced nuts, creamy vanilla ice cream, and warm honey come together in indulgent layers perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • Extra-virgin olive oil, for frying
  • 4 phyllo dough sheets, torn into pieces
  • 1/3 cup walnuts, crushed
  • 1/3 cup pistachios, crushed
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 pint vanilla ice cream
  • 1/4 cup honey, warmed

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet and fry torn phyllo pieces until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  2. In a bowl, mix crushed walnuts, pistachios, cinnamon, and brown sugar.
  3. In serving cups, layer fried phyllo, a scoop of vanilla ice cream, the nut mixture, and a drizzle of warm honey.
  4. Repeat layers as desired and finish with extra honey on top.
  5. Serve immediately for best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Swap vanilla ice cream with pistachio, honey, or cinnamon ice cream for a flavor twist.
  • Use Greek yogurt for a lighter version.
  • Try hazelnuts or candied pecans in place of traditional nuts.
  • Fried phyllo can be made a day ahead and stored in an airtight container.
  • Warm honey slightly before serving for easier drizzling.
