Ingredients
- 4 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1 cup chopped dates
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a baking dish.
- In a saucepan, combine apples, dates, sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and water. Cook for 8–10 minutes until apples soften.
- Transfer the mixture to the baking dish and spread evenly.
- In a bowl, mix flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
- Add cold butter and rub into the mixture until crumbly.
- Sprinkle the crumble topping over the fruit evenly.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes until golden brown and crisp.
- Cool slightly before serving.

- Mix apples with pears for variation.
- Serve warm with ice cream, cream, or custard.
