Description

Ingredients

  • 4 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 cup chopped dates
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a baking dish.
  2. In a saucepan, combine apples, dates, sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and water. Cook for 8–10 minutes until apples soften.
  3. Transfer the mixture to the baking dish and spread evenly.
  4. In a bowl, mix flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  5. Add cold butter and rub into the mixture until crumbly.
  6. Sprinkle the crumble topping over the fruit evenly.
  7. Bake for 30–35 minutes until golden brown and crisp.
  8. Cool slightly before serving.
